Description

Bioactive Collagen is a composition of different highly-purified collagen peptides derived from a specific type of hydrolysis from bovine skin. Collagen peptides are rapidly absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract. Peptides are broken down into amino acids or di-peptides but are also absorbed to some extent in molecular intact form.

Collagen peptides have a positive impact on the biosynthesis of extracellular matrix (ECM) in cartilage tissue, as demonstrated by a statistically significantly increase of two major components, collagen type II and proteoglycan (aggrecan) after ingestion.

Several preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated the efficacy of Bioactive Collagen as potential therapeutic agent and nutritional supplement for the management of osteoarthritis (OA) and support of the maintenance of joint health in humans.

Much clinical data exists, that refers to the beneficial effect of Bioactive Collagen in patients affected by degenerative joint disease.
