Vitamin B Products
Nutri-Link supplies a number of B complex formulae as well as individual B Vitamin supplements.
Thiamin: (vitamin B1) is a water-soluble vitamin. It is involved in numerous body functions, including: nervous system and muscle functioning; flow of electrolytes in and out of nerve and muscle cells; multiple enzyme processes; carbohydrate metabolism; and production of hydrochloric acid.
Riboflavin: (vitamin B2) is a water-soluble vitamin, which is necessary for normal cell function, growth, and energy production.
Niacin: (vitamin B3) or nicotinic acid, is a colourless, water-soluble vitamin. It is converted to nicotinamide and then to NAD and NADP in vivo. Niacin is a precursor to NADH, NAD+, NADP+ and NADPH, which play essential metabolic roles in living cells. Niacin is involved in both DNA repair, and the production of steroid hormones in the adrenal gland.
Pantothenic acid: (vitamin B5) is essential to all life and is a component of coenzyme A (CoA), a molecule that is necessary for numerous vital chemical reactions to occur in cells. Pantothenic acid is essential to the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, as well as for the synthesis of hormones and cholesterol.
Pyridoxine: (vitamin B6) is a water-soluble vitamin and is part of the vitamin B complex group. It is required for the synthesis of the neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine and for myelin formation. Pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) is the active form and is a cofactor in many reactions of amino acid metabolism, including transamination, deamination, and decarboxylation. PLP also is necessary for the enzymatic reaction governing the release of glucose from glycogen.
Vitamin B12: (cobalamin) is an essential water-soluble vitamin that is commonly found in a variety of foods such as fish, shellfish, meat, and dairy products. It helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells and is also needed to make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B12 requires hydrochloric acid in the stomach to be released.
Folic acid: is a water-soluble vitamin essential to numerous bodily functions ranging from nucleotide biosynthesis to the remethylation of homocysteine. Folate is needed to synthesise DNA, repair DNA, and methylate DNA as well as to act as a cofactor in biological reactions involving folate. It is especially important during periods of rapid cell division and growth. Both children and adults require folic acid to produce healthy red blood cells and prevent anemia.
Folinic Acid: Folinic acid, also known as 5-formyl tetrahydrofolate, is one active form in a group of vitamins known as folates. In contrast to folic acid, a synthetic form of folate, folinic acid is one of the forms of folate found naturally in foods. In the body folinic acid may be converted into any of the other active forms of folate.
