Description
B6 Phosphate provides vitamin B6 in its active form of pyridoxal-5-phosphate, at 20 mg per tablet, together with a small amount of vegetable source SOD and catalase, important antioxidant enzymes.
Why take an active B6 supplement?
Vitamin B6 is important for many enzymes within the body. Vitamin B6 is essential for proper immune function, metabolism and energy production, fatty acid metabolism & cardiovascular health, dopamine production and an array of other functions. Vitamin B6 is one of the most useful nutrients in addressing PMS and water retention. In its active form Vitamin B6 is not only completely safe at higher levels, but also more effective at a lower dose. It is estimated that one requires approximately one fifth of the dose of p-5-p compared to pyridoxine.
Pyridoxine deficiency in adults principally affects the peripheral nerves, skin, mucous membranes, and the blood cell system. In children, the central nervous system (CNS) is also affected. Deficiency can occur in people with uremia, alcoholism, cirrhosis, hyperthyroidism, malabsorption syndromes, congestive heart failure (CHF), and in those taking certain medications. Mild deficiency of vitamin B6 is common.
