Teen Skin Health Webinar

Acne is most prevalent in adolescent years, and skin issues as a teenager can cause much distress. In addition to physical effects such as permanent scarring and disfigurement, acne has long-lasting psychosocial effects that affect the individual’s quality of life. Depression, social isolation and suicidal ideation are frequent comorbidities of acne that should not be neglected in the therapy of acne patients.

As a result, motivation to engage in nutritional changes may be higher than with other conditions. This may be especially true if various ineffective and problematic drug treatments have already been tried. There are many natural approaches to consider that have been shown to be effective for helping people resolve their acne, but are not always understood by primary healthcare practitioners where topical drugs or antibiotics are the current medical treatment.

As Nutritional Therapists will know, a holistic nutritional approach can very often reduce or resolve acne, and it is ideal if the teenaged or older client is open to education. Antony presents the most commonly used and successful nutritional approaches to help create and maintain healthy skin and no spots!

  1. Learn about the prevalence of acne in pre-adolescents, adolescents and adults.
  2. Learn about the difference in prevalence in men and women in adolescents and adults.
  3. Learn about the degree by which acne impacts quality of life.
  4. Learn about the pathogenesis of acne.
  5. Learn about the sex hormone-androgen-connection with acne.
