Insomnia

Disturbed sleep has a major negative impact on sense of well-being and overall health. Different types of insomnia affect over 30% of the UK population over the span of a year.

Older people appear more vulnerable to persistent insomnia. Research reveals that the common problems of insomnia, pain, and psychological distress are intertwined and suggest that combined approaches to treatment may be needed to reduce the onset and persistence of these problems. Alongside sound sleep hygiene, targeted nutritional therapy can have significant benefits to those seeking to resolve insomnia.

Disturbed sleep may not always be the prime reason that someone seeks your help, but it can be remarkably common for clients to have insomnia as one of their “other symptoms / conditions”.

Learning more about how to help clients with sleep disorders will reward your clients and yourself many times over.

During this presentation you will learn:

  • About incidence of insomnia in the UK
  • About the health impacts of chronic insomnia including anxiety & depression
  • About the importance of sound sleep hygiene
  • About the role of stress, blood glucose balance and cortisol in insomnia
  • About the role of thyroid hormone imbalances in insomnia
  • About the role of key nutrients and natural remedies for the insomniac
  • How zinc operates as a sleep modulator
  • About the vital role sufficient intake of vitamins B6, B12, C, D, E have in sleep function.
