Oregano oil extract is an anti-microbial found in nature and contains the active ingredient carvacrol.
It has a broad range of action addressing many different species including B. Hominis and many more. These powerful anti-microbial agents help to address unwelcome guests in the human gastrointestinal tract.
Oregano oil has been used in folk medicine for centuries, it is a species of a flowering plant from the mint family Lamiaceae. Whilst there are numerous variants, oregano Vulgare is commonly used, it is also referred to as wild marjoram.
Of all the phenolic compounds found in oregano, carvacrol and thymol which are believed to have the greatest biological activity. They possess a wide range of bioactivities putatively useful for clinical applications such as anti-microbial, antioxidant and anti-cancer activities.
Biotics Research have been able to dramatically improve the delivery system of oil of oregano. Many commercially available oregano oil products vary hugely in potency, and tinctures and other liquid forms of the oil may be difficult for many patients to take as it has a very strong taste.
Furthermore, oil of oregano is mostly absorbed in one region of the small intestine, thus limiting the efficacy of a non-sustained release product in reaching the areas of the small and large intestine more likely to be affected. Each tablet of A.D.P.® supplies a standardised extract of oregano oil (50 mg) in a sustained release mechanism as an emulsified form, thus ensuring the ease of dosing and maximising delivery both within the gut and for systemic absorption and effect.
