Each capsule supplies 125mg of Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE). GSE contains potent compounds that can kill many tens of different types of bacteria & yeasts.
The grapefruit seed extract contains powerful antimicrobials that can kill many tens of types of bacteria and yeast. It does this by breaking down their outer membranes, causing them to burst open. It kills yeast cells by causing apoptosis, a process in which cells self-destruct. GSE may also be capable of killing the bacterium H. pylori, one of the major causes of stomach inflammation and ulcers, but further human studies are needed to confirm this.
GSE also provides antioxidants (vitamin E, flavonoids and polyphenols) including naringin which is found in very high concentrations in grapefruit seeds is what gives grapefruit its bitter taste.
Animal studies have found that GSE can protect the stomach from damage caused by alcohol and stress. It appears to protect the stomach lining from ulcers and other lesions by increasing blood flow to the area and preventing damage caused by free radicals.
