D-Mannose has been found to be effective in preventing and treating urinary tract infections caused by E. coli bacteria. It works by binding to the bacteria and preventing it from adhering to the walls of the urinary tract, thus allowing it to be flushed out of the body naturally. Cranberry juice, on the other hand, contains only a small amount of D-Mannose and is often high in added sugars, which can actually worsen the infection by suppressing the immune system's ability to fight off the bacterial infection. Therefore, it is recommended to take D-Mannose supplements instead, which provide a concentrated dose of the active ingredient without the added sugars. Product available in 50g or 100g

What is D-Mannose and how does it work to treat cystitis caused by E. Coli?

D-Mannose is a naturally occurring sugar molecule found in various fruits like peaches, apples, oranges, cranberries, and blueberries. It is extracted and taken in the form of a white crystal sugar similar to glucose, which can be easily dissolved in water and swallowed. The therapeutic recommended dose of D-Mannose is considerably higher than that found in cranberry juice, which often contains large amounts of added sugars that suppress the activity of white blood cells that destroy unfriendly bacteria.

When D-Mannose is consumed, it passes through the kidneys and a considerable amount enters the urine. As the urine flows out of the body, it sugar-coats any free-floating E. Coli bacteria it encounters, preventing them from adhering to the inner tissues of the bladder and urinary tract. The E. Coli are rinsed out of the body with normal urination.

D-Mannose is superior to antibiotics as it does not kill bacteria of any kind, including friendly bacteria that are important for maintaining health. Antibiotics also often lead to yeast infections and depletion of essential vitamins and minerals in the body. D-Mannose helps relocate misplaced E. Coli from inside the urinary tract to outside, making it an ecologically sound treatment for E. Coli bladder and urinary tract infections.
